Your questions, answered

So you're thinking about applying to the Production Training Scheme, but you've got a question before you hit that apply button....

We've covered all the common questions we get asked in our FAQs. Take a look and see if the answer to your question is here. Can't find the answer you're looking for? No problem! You can contact us at [email protected] and a member of the team will be able to help.

The Production Training Scheme is open to people looking to get their first step into the television industry. You must be eligible to work in the UK and be able to work full-time.

This is an entry level role, experience in this field or a relevant degree is not required. We are looking for people who have a clear and demonstrable passion for Television Production, with no more than 3 months of industry experience.

The scheme lasts for a full year, starting from the 15 September 2025. We start with a week long boot camp with our training partner, thinkBIGGER! so that trainees get off to a great start.

From your second week,  you will be working at your companies, getting to grips with your new role.

Training with thinkBIGGER! continues throughout the year, both in person and online.  Channel 4 will cover any travel and accommodation costs for training.

Please contact  [email protected] if you need any support or adjustments made when making your application.

If you are unable to complete a written application form, we want to make the process of applying for one of our opportunities right for you as an individual. If needed, we are happy to consider alternative formats of the application form.

For example, you may wish to complete your application entirely in written format or entirely in video format. You could arrange a phone call with 4Skills for you to speak your answers, and a member of the team can scribe, or if you’d like to do the entire application as a voice recording, these are also options available.

If you have a different alternative, we really welcome your suggestions to ensure you have a fair chance of applying.

Take a look at our access page for more information, which you’ll find by clicking here. If you would like to apply for an opportunity at 4Skills and we can help to make that process simpler for you, please email us at [email protected]  and please put in the Subject line "Reasonable Adjustments" .

You will need to sign up to register for this website before you are able to submit an application.

To complete your application you need to fill in your contact details, personal details, attach a CV and provide answers to the 5 application questions.

In order for us to get to know you better, we will ask you to provide a few answers in a written format, and the others by a recorded video. If you need any adjustments to this, you will be able to let us know on the application portal.

The 4Skills Team will review your application to create a shortlist and aim to update you by the end of June.

If you reach the final stage, you will be invited to attend an in person interview with the company to which you have applied and members from the 4Skills recruitment team.

Opportunities are available in Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, London, Wrexham, Leeds, Manchester, and Bristol. As a trainee, you will be based at the location to which you have applied.

The scheme starts on 15 September 2025. Your first week will be in a classroom environment for TV Boot Camp training delivered by thinkBIGGER!

Make sure you research the companies offering placements and think carefully about the location you apply for, as you will be required to live in that area for the duration of your placement. Please be aware most companies operate a hybrid way of working and we are unable to offer fully remote working.

We can help you relocate for the role. Our relocation policy can cover your deposit and first month's rent. We also have an allowance to cover travel for property viewings.

Yes, the scheme is a full-time paid position for 12 months. Your salary for companies based in the Nations and Regions will be £25,000 per year and if you are in London, it is £27,000.

No -- you can only work on a new application after you click on "Submit" and finish the current application. Our system doesn't allow you to start a new application until you complete the previous one.

On the Production Training Scheme you will not be working directly for Channel 4. If successful, you will receive a contract of employment from the company you have applied to and you will have regular contact with thinkBIGGER! who deliver training. The Channel 4 team will also be on hand for any support.

We have many different roles to choose from, but we only allow you to apply for up to three roles.

Make sure you research the companies offering placements and think carefully about the location you apply for, and pay attention to whether you want to work as a Trainee Production Coordinator or a Trainee Researcher.

Yes you can, but you will need to convince us that you are committed to following that route into television. We usually find people are attracted to one role or the other, not both!

Applications are scheduled to close at NOON on the 6th of May. Please note we may extend the deadline for some roles if required.

Although you may not be employed by Channel 4, we will use some of the data you provide when signing up to the site and making an application for the purposes of participating in the Production Training Scheme and diversity reporting.

All your data will be safely stored securely within the UK, we will delete this data within 3 months of the training scheme starting (15 September 2025) if you are not successful. If you are successful and offered a place on the scheme, we will keep your data for the duration of the scheme (12 months).

If you have any questions on our data policy / how we use your data, please email [email protected].
